The Night Economy team has updates to share with you!
City Council adopted amendments to the Licensing Bylaw and the Zoning Bylaws as part of the Night Economy Review at its meeting on December 13 to 15, 2023. The amended bylaws are to come into effect on January 1, 2025.
On January 17, 2024, the City of Toronto held the inaugural Night Economy Town Hall to share the latest Night Economy information including the adopted regulatory amendments, the SafeTO: A Community Safety and Well-Being Plan and Our Health, Our City: A Mental Health, Substance Use, Harm Reduction & Treatment Strategy for Toronto.
Also introduced was the Good Neighbour Guide for Late Night Businesses (6 MB) . This guide is a comprehensive resource and includes best practices for live music venues, nightclubs, bars, restaurants, retailers, service providers, and other businesses operating between the hours 6 p.m. – 6 a.m. The guide presents relevant information and provides links to related resources, from the City of Toronto and external sources, intended to support operators in running a safe establishment that also benefits the surrounding community, including nearby residents and other businesses.
