BEVI BIRRA
1072 Dundas St. W
Founded by Paul Liberti and Sam Puntillo, Bevi Birra began as a pandemic-era bottle shop in Vaughan with a simple yet powerful goal: to share their love of craft beer with the community. Early on, they forged strong relationships with local breweries, curating a selection of craft brews that quickly garnered a loyal customer base.
As time passed, Bevi Birra expanded into Woodbridge, growing from a bottle shop into a full-fledged restaurant offering fresh focaccia sandwiches and other authentic Italian dishes—many inspired by Paul and Sam’s Nonna’s home cooking. In November 2022, the pair opened a second location in the Junction at 3072 Dundas Street West, quickly becoming a hit within the Junction’s dining scene.
Early on, Dan Dimonte joined the Bevi Birra team as a manager. His connection to the business grew more substantial, and he eventually became a co-owner, contributing to the company’s exciting growth. Dan’s decision to join Bevi Birra was deeply personal; the focus on Italian-inspired cuisine resonated with his upbringing in an Italian-Canadian family. Becoming a co-owner was a big commitment, but it was one that Dan was excited to take on, knowing it would allow him to infuse his values and vision into every aspect of the business.
Bevi Birra is proud to offer over 100 beers, including many exclusive brews celebrating the city’s diverse flavours and local spirit. The restaurant’s food menu is ever-evolving, featuring new dishes and collaborations with local breweries. However, its delicious focaccia sandwiches have been a menu staple. They are crafted with high-quality, fresh ingredients and baked daily for the perfect balance of flavour and texture.
Honouring their Italian roots, many of their sandwiches are named after family members—Anna Rosaria, Giovanna, Maria, and Angelina. Each sandwich is thoughtfully paired with a craft beer to ensure an exceptional dining experience.
The name “Bevi Birra” itself holds special meaning for Dan. It translates simply to “drink beer,” a phrase he often heard from his Grandma growing up. She always encouraged the family to enjoy life’s simple pleasures, which included gathering around the table for great food and cold beer. For Dan, “Bevi Birra” is more than just an invitation—it’s a celebration of time spent with loved ones, a spirit of warmth and camaraderie that the Bevi Birra team strives to bring to every customer interaction.
The Bevi Birra team also loves exploring other local Italian gems in the Junction. They frequent Noctua Bakery, known for its standout pistachio gelato and pain au chocolat, and Petti Fine Foods, where Stefano’s fresh pasta always delivers.
When he’s not busy at Bevi Birra, Dan enjoys soccer—particularly Serie A, Italy’s premier league, and Arsenal, whose emphasis on the artistry of the game resonates with him. He also enjoys distance running, finding peace in the rhythm of his footsteps to balance out his busy schedule at Bevi Birra.
Becoming a business owner in the supportive Junction community has been one of Dan’s most fulfilling journeys. While every day presents new challenges, the rewards of seeing satisfied customers, contributing to the local community, and honouring family traditions make it all worthwhile. For Dan, food has always had the power to bring people together and create lasting connections. At Bevi Birra, he gets to work with a team that shares that same passion for creating experiences that resonate with every customer who walks through the door.
