Women’s Health Collaborative
2806 Dundas St West
Sara Martin has a long history with the building that houses the Women’s Health Collaborative. In the same building, her mother, Betty, shared her passion for holistic health by running Resto Clean, a colon hydrotherapy clinic from 1985 to 2021. Sara has many fond memories of the love and dedication her mother brought to the clinic and of working there part-time as a receptionist during school holidays. After Betty retired, Sara spent all of 2022 renovating the space to open the Women’s Health Collaborative in 2023. Inspired by the nearly 40 years of dedicated care her mother provided to the community, Sara aimed to establish a multidisciplinary holistic healthcare clinic. She aimed to transform traditional healthcare by moving away from a one-size-fits-all approach. Instead, she envisioned creating a community-based circle of health services accessible to all and tailored to the unique health needs of women.
Starting a wellness business was an easy decision for Sara to make. It was a way to carry on her mother’s legacy and allowed her to employ her knowledge from a 17-year career in education and multiple home-based businesses. An essential source of inspiration for Sara in searching for her business’s core mission was her personal experience with health challenges that happened after three complicated pregnancies. Her health restoration only happened due to care from a naturopath, chiropractor, massage therapist, herbalist, acupuncturist, movement therapist, psychologist, personal trainer, and colon therapist. The kindness, knowledge, and collaboration of this fantastic group of caring women saved the quality of her life. At Women’s Health Collaborative, Sara aspires to do the same for others, using her unique experience and knowledge to create a loving nest for healing and connection for everyone.
The Women’s Health Collaborative team consists of many talented, caring, and passionate women, all dedicated to health and well-being. Whatever the challenge, they listen and find the best approach for restoring balance and health by providing a wide range of wellness services, including colon hydrotherapy, cupping, yoni, psychotherapy, breath work, tapping, meditation, and various massage types. Some of the team member’s personal stories include Zainab, whose experience using plants for holistic health treatments started from a young age growing up in Sierra Leone, and Triptta, who left a successful corporate career when she felt she was losing track of her authentic self, and now helps others overcome imposter syndrome, find their true calling, harnessing their energy for personal and professional growth. Having such a diverse team is essential, and everyone understands that while what they do individually is important, true holistic restoration comes from healing led by a circle of women therapists collaborating.
With her long connection with the neighbourhood, it should come as no surprise that Sara enjoys supporting many local businesses, taking classes at KSA Fitness, eating at Cool Hand of a Girl, and shopping at Hacienda. She also loves to explore and find new and hidden places all along the Junction corridor, especially businesses east of Keele. A great recent find is Haberdashist, an all-natural clothing store. She encourages everyone to explore the Junction to its fullest, as there are many hidden gems waiting to be discovered.
At Women’s Health Collaborative, Sara is thrilled to have the opportunity to carry on her mother’s legacy by providing community-based care. The team’s unwavering commitment to female-led healing and holistic care ensures that every woman’s individual health needs are met. Everyone at the clinic looks forward to nurturing and developing connections in the Junction now and in the future. You can find more detailed information on their website, and we encourage you to become a part of our community-based care.
