Vaccination Rollout in Parkdale-High Park

MPP Bhutila Karpoche has asked us to share the following information on the vaccination rollout in our community:

Dear Neighbour, 

I’m writing today with a quick update on the status of vaccination roll-out in our community. 

There are now opportunities for any adults aged 80 or over to book an appointment to be vaccinated at St. Joseph’s Health Centre. Appointments are available as of today. 

In addition, patients of University Health Network (UHN) and those who have primary care providers located in the Mid-West Toronto health region, who are aged 80 or over have the opportunity to pre-register for vaccination at the UHN vaccine clinic. 

The Ontario government’s vaccine strategy for Phase 2 included a plan to roll out AstraZeneca vaccines to pharmacies on a trial basis. This vaccine has only been recommended for use in adults under the age of 65. Two of those AZ vaccine pilot test sites will be located in Parkdale—High Park and are currently accepting pre-registration for vaccination appointments which will begin on March 13. 

Information on eligibility and how to book or pre-register for vaccine appointments at these sites can be found below.

ST. JOSEPH’S HEALTH CENTRE (80+ yrs old only)

The COVID-19 vaccine clinic at St. Joseph’s Health Centre is currently vaccinating members of the public 80 years and older (born in 1941 and before) 

  • How to book an appointment for those 80 years and older (born in 1941 and before) at a Unity Health Vaccination clinic:

    • Or Call the Toronto COVID-19 Call Centre: 1-888-385-1910

  • About booking an appointment at St. Joseph’s Health Centre:

    • You do not need to be a patient of Unity Health Toronto to book an appointment

    • If no appointment times are available when you try to book, please check back. Additional appointments will be added as we receive more information about our vaccine supply

    • We are providing as many vaccinations as we can for individuals 80 years and older.

    • Demand for COVID-19 vaccines currently exceeds supply. We are expecting a steady increase in the supply over the coming weeks which will allow us to offer more vaccinations to this priority population. Thank you for your patience.

    • We are asking that people book or pre-register at only one of Toronto’s vaccination sites; preferably the site that is closest to their home.

    • Please do not visit the clinic if you do not have an appointment. Only those with an appointment will receive a vaccine

UNIVERSITY HEALTH NETWORK (80+ yrs old only)

  • You are eligible to be vaccinated at University Health Network (UHN) if: 

    • You are 80 years of age and older (born in 1941 and before), and;

    • A current patient of UNH (Toronto General, Toronto Western, Princess Margaret, Toronto Rehab — Sinai Health, Women’s College, or Toronto Grace hospitals) or;

    • Have your primary care provider (family doctor or nurse practitioner) within the mid-west Toronto catchment area (South of Eglinton to the lake, east of Dufferin St. and west of Yonge St. — see map), as defined by the Mid-West Toronto Ontario Health Team

  • You can pre-register for a vaccine here: https://covidvaccine.uhn.ca/vaccination-registration-form

 

PHARMACY PILOT SITES (60-64 yrs old only)

There are currently five pharmacies located in Parkdale—High Park who have been selected as vaccine pilot sites for administration of the AstraZeneca vaccine for those aged 60-64 years old.

  • Welcome Guardian Pharmacy (137 Roncesvalles Ave)

    • You can pre-register for an appointment, if you are in the qualifying age range (60-64 years old), by calling 416-533-2088×2.

  • Lingeman IDA Pharmacy (411 Jane St)

    • You can pre-register for an appointment, if you are in the qualifying age range (60-64 years old), by calling 416-767-8409.

  • Vina Pharmacy (1460 Queen St. W)

We understand that more pharmacies will be accepted into the pilot and will update you as we receive more information.
