Proposed Changes to Temporary Signage
A staff report on the Temporary Signs Review is expected at the October 15 Planning and Housing Committee. Depending on Committee’s decision, the report could go to City Council as early as October 29. ML&S is targeting an implementation date in early 2020, as business owners and residents will need to be educated about any changes.
TABIA has been invited to preliminary discussions and it is not expected that the amendments will affect our member portion of the By-law but more the Real Estate and Developer signs. Those BIAs that want to remain exempt from having signs in their BIAs will continue to do so, those that have granted permission for A-Frames will be asked to be more vigilant at responding to applications for A-Frame signage from their members as clearance from the BIA is required for a city issued permit. The review will also include a stepping up of enforcement regarding those that don’t have formal city approval stickers on their signs.
