We understand that many have concerns about The Junction 9th Annual Summer Solstice Festival amid the global pandemic caused by COVID-19. It is with heavy hearts that The Junction BIA is announcing The Summer Solstice Festival will be postponed to 2021.
This was not an easy decision to make. We understand how much our members and the community look forward to and rely on The Summer Solstice Festival each year. However, we do not know when government-mandated social-distancing will end and it would not be responsible for us to promote a large-scale social gathering at this time. We all must take a proactive approach to uphold social-distancing to stop the spread of this virus. The safety of our members, vendors, suppliers, artists, and the general public is our #1 priority.
Additionally, to continue planning for an event that may not happen would also be fiscally irresponsible, and it is more important that we focus our time and resources on supporting our membership now and preparing for our recovery. To this end, we will continue to:
- Promote online gift cards, delivery, and takeout opportunities.
- Ensure members are kept up-to-date with regular communications.
- Encourage members take this time to move your business ONLINE, such as through working 1-on-1 with Lorenzo from Digital Main Street.
- Advocate on their behalf to all levels of government through TABIA and OBIAA.
The BIA is working with government officials, the police, our BIA counterparts, and the Marketing Working Group to put a strong Recovery Plan in place. If members are interested in having a say in how best to promote the Junction during these uncertain times, they can join our VIRTUAL Marketing Working Group by filling out this form. Certainly, we will discuss planning a celebration event for the Junction just as soon as things normalize.
Thank you for your patience and understanding during these challenging times. We commend our courageous members, vendors, and suppliers who continue providing essential services. Be safe and stay well.
