A&W Restaurant

Installation Concept

Root beer began as a homemade beverage brewed from sassafras and other aromatic roots and herbs, crafted by settlers using foraged ingredients to create a flavourful, refreshing drink. As European colonists introduced new techniques and industrialization spread, root beer was sweetened, carbonated, and commercialized, transforming it into a widely available soda. Its popularity reached winter resort towns and ski lodges, where it became a favourite après-ski refreshment, with root beer floats and warm, spiced variations becoming part of seasonal traditions. Today, root beer remains a cultural staple, blending nostalgia with the shared experiences of both summer gatherings and cozy winter moments after a day on the slopes.

Meet the Artists

Oblsk1, Muralist

Oblsk1 has practiced abstract painting techniques since 2006 to explore the visceral relationship between colour, emotion and spacial perception. Influenced heavily by street art, “graffuturism”, and the raw beauty of natural landscapes, Oblsk plays with different application techniques and unorthodox layering to achieve an effect of spacial ambiguity in his work.
