Installation Concept
This installation uses the image of the carrier pigeon to explore themes of migration, memory, and forgotten heritage. Once brought to Canada by European settlers as messengers and companions, pigeons later became symbols of working-class life and personal history. Drawing from the artist’s own family history of keeping a coop of carrier pigeons in the early 1900’s, the piece reflects on how these birds—now often overlooked—continue to inhabit the Junction, embodying the quiet endurance of stories, traditions, and lives that have shaped the neighbourhood across generations.
