Melissa Cosentino began her practice as a holistic nutritionist in the Junction in March of 2020. Spending her youth as someone with a host of issues related to her wellness, whether it be severe food allergies, low energy levels, and struggling with being overweight, Melissa began her wellness journey at 16. While initially being active and managing a healthy diet helped her lose some weight, she still dealt with severe food intolerances and stomach issues. With the help of naturopathic doctors, nutritionists and countless hours of research, Melissa could get a handle on her health and symptoms to live much more comfortably.
This inspired a complete change in her career path. Melissa returned to school at the Institute of Holistic Nutrition and hoped to find a wellness centre to host her practice after graduation. Melissa has had property investments in the Junction since 2015; however, meeting and working with Junction Health staff solidified the fact that the Junction was the perfect place for her and her practice, MellyFit Nutrition. Melissa and her husband loved the area so much that they packed up and moved from the Yonge and Eglinton area to be a part of the community.
Being someone who previously lived in a condo in a bustling midtown neighbourhood, the Junction existed in stark contrast. Upon her move, Melissa felt welcomed into a community for the first time. The Junction turned out to be the perfect place to support Melissa’s passions, and the demographic indeed aligned with her work. Melissa’s clients are often hard-working and busy professionals. Melissa presents holistic strategies to help her clients be the best versions of themselves for those who often feel too busy between all of their obligations to look after their wellness.
Melissa has been a busy professional before – 6+ days a week, 60 hour work weeks. She can understand her clients at a deeper level in that sense. She breaks down issues to the root cause and aids her clients to heal their bodies with programs like her 7-Day Holistic Cleanse, a virtual group program for busy women looking to improve gut health and learn the fundamentals of clean eating. This provides you with a schedule, recipes, a supplement plan and much more. Melissa has hustled to get her practice up and running virtually, as she opened at the beginning of the pandemic. All of Melissa’s services are now available online, and there’s no better time to start your wellness journey than now, from the comfort of your own home!
